President Prabowo’s Davos 2026 Address: Peace, Prosperity, and “Prabowonomics”

Prabowo WEF Speech (Gen AI)

On January 22, 2026, Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto delivered a keynote address at the World Economic Forum’s Annual Meeting in Davos, Switzerland, marking one of his first major global speeches since taking office. Speaking to an audience of world leaders, heads of state, business executives, academics, and civil society representatives, President Prabowo outlined Indonesia’s policy agenda and his vision for global cooperation in a time of uncertainty.

Prabowo opened by acknowledging the challenging state of the world: enduring conflicts, fragile trust between nations, and economic uncertainty that has stressed global systems. He framed his remarks around Indonesia’s choices as a rising nation and outlined a set of principles he believes are both domestic imperatives and global goods.

A central theme of the speech was peace and stability as prerequisites for prosperity. Prabowo emphasized that in a fragmented world, Indonesia remains committed to unity, cooperation, and diplomacy. Reflecting Indonesia’s longstanding non-aligned foreign policy, he stated:

“If you want to take something from my talk today, maybe it should be this: Indonesia chooses peace over chaos. We want to be a friend to all and an enemy to none.”

He argued that peace and stability are the most valuable assets a nation can have, and that without them, neither economic growth nor social development is sustainable.

Prabowo used his Davos platform to unveil his economic strategy, which he termed “Prabowonomics” — a blend of state-driven planning, strategic investment, and social welfare policies intended to unlock Indonesia’s economic potential and enhance resilience in a shifting global economy.

Citing Indonesia’s track record of averaging over five percent growth in recent years and the International Monetary Fund’s forecast of expanding output, Prabowo said he is confident Indonesia will see faster growth in 2026 under his policy regime.

He repeated his administration’s commitment to macroeconomic discipline, highlighting Indonesia’s unbroken history of honoring debt obligations and prudent fiscal policy as cornerstones of credibility that attract foreign capital.

Prabowo introduced Danantara, Indonesia’s new sovereign wealth and investment platform, as a vehicle for both domestic development and foreign co-investment. He described Danantara as a “machine” for economic transformation — a platform that would drive infrastructure, food and energy self-sufficiency, and strategic industry growth.

Social and Human Capital Programmes

Beyond macroeconomic strategy, the President highlighted social programmes that have been rolled out since his administration began:

  • A nationwide free nutritious meals programme targeted at pregnant women, children, and isolated older Indonesians, which aims to serve tens of millions of meals per day and create extensive jobs and supply chains.
  • Education digitization efforts, involving school renovations and the rollout of interactive learning technology to improve learning outcomes and support human capital development.
  • Plans to potentially develop new universities and strengthen educational infrastructure as part of a broader strategy to empower future generations.

Prabowo framed these programmes not just as national policy but as part of Indonesia’s contribution to a more equitable and capable world economy.

Combatting Corruption and “Greedonomics”

A striking portion of the speech addressed governance and the rule of law. The President openly discussed Indonesia’s efforts to crack down on corruption and irregular economic practices, which he labeled “greedonomics.” He recounted the revocation of licenses and enforcement actions against illegal plantations and mining operations, stressing that rule of law must underpin any healthy investment climate.

His message was clear: economic actors must abide by laws, and the Indonesian government will enforce regulations strictly.

Environmental Stewardship and Global Cooperation

Prabowo also underscored the environmental dimension of his vision. He urged all nations to “protect nature and live with nature,” linking environmental sustainability with long-term peace and prosperity.

His call echoed in his appeal for global cooperation across races, religions, and cultures, urging collective pursuit of justice, freedom, and improved quality of life for all people around the world.

A Message for the World

President Prabowo’s address at Davos was more than a policy pitch for Indonesia. It was a message about principles in a turbulent era: that stability underwrites growth, that social responsibility matters as much as economic efficiency, and that nations must work together to build a future of shared prosperity. His remarks sought to position Indonesia not just as an emerging market, but as a responsible global partner in shaping the world economy amidst rising geopolitical and economic tensions.
