Work at Kuartal
Help us build the full ledger
We're looking for researchers, writers, builders and advisors who believe money can do a lot more good than it does today.
Life at Kuartal
Still small. That's the exciting part.
Kuartal is still small, and that's the exciting part. We're writing about money in a way that counts people and the planet, publishing books that make economics easy to love, helping business owners share ownership with their teams, and building apps in Indonesia, for Indonesia. If that sounds like your kind of work, we'd love to hear from you.
How we work
People come first here. We use AI to help our team do more, never to replace their judgement, and every fact we publish has a real person's name behind it. Writers and researchers keep ownership of their ideas. And we're upfront about conflicts of interest: if you own a stock, you don't write about it.
We encourage the companies we work with to share ownership with their teams, so we're doing the same thinking for ourselves. Our Partners have promised to report publicly on sharing ownership with staff and long-time contributors, and we'll publish how our highest pay compares with our typical pay.
Where we work
Our home is Mataram, Lombok. Most roles can be remote anywhere in Indonesia, and some from across Southeast Asia. [VERIFY: remote policy]
We also publish writers and researchers from outside Kuartal. Before your first piece, we'll ask you to sign up to our honesty and disclosure standards.
Our Portfolio
One Kuartal ID, a dozen places to grow
A role at Kuartal can mean research and writing, or it can mean product, operations or advisory work at one of the companies across the Group. People move between them more often than you'd think.
Our community: reading, courses and conversation
Advice on markets and private investment
Support for founders and early-stage builders
Grants and projects for a fairer, cleaner economy
Our Handbooks, magazine and research
The infrastructure behind every Kuartal app
Documentaries, shows, podcasts and RUKRE
Komp, Kuant and Kalc, our AI co-pilots
Partnered Institutions
You'll also work alongside our partners
A lot of Kuartal's work happens with other institutions, not just inside our own offices. Depending on the role, you could find yourself working alongside:
Our partner on the Start Inc. incubator cohorts running out of Lombok.
The Lombok Tourism Polytechnic, host campus for our incubator programmes.
Makers of our Store merchandise, based here in Lombok.
[SUPPLY: a fuller, confirmed list of partner institutions and organisations, if there are more to name here.]
