Diemas Sukma Hawkins is the founder and CEO of Kuartal, an independent financial media, investment and venture-building firm focused on the intersection of capital, business and the emerging economy.

He brings experience across investment, policy research, geoparks, sustainability and entrepreneurship, with previous work spanning BAPPENAS, the Indonesian government, and private-sector investment.

At Kuartal, Diemas leads the firm's strategy and its growing focus on private markets, venture building, impact investing, green finance and long-term capital formation.

Looks after the money across the whole Group: our annual accounts, disclosing our biggest relationships, and publishing how our highest pay compares with our typical pay. Works across every business, not just one.

Keeps everything running smoothly: rolling out Kuartal ID and the app launcher, our self-hosted tech, and making sure Kuartalspace, Kuartal Capital, Kuartal Ventures, Kuartal Impact, Kuartal Books, Kuartal Systems, Karias by Kuartal and Kuartal Media work well together as they grow.

Makes sure we're doing everything by the book: OJK approvals for products like Kuallet and Kuartal Card, SDPPI certification for our devices, data protection under Indonesia's Personal Data Protection Law (UU PDP), and keeping every business true to our manifesto.

Finds and looks after our people: hiring, the honesty and disclosure standards our contributors sign up to, and the shared-ownership report our Partners have promised to publish within twelve months of the manifesto.

Owns what gets built across every line: one product roadmap, our design system, the Kuartal ID sign-in experience, and which line builds what. Settles the clashes, like Kuartalspace and Klassroom by Kuartal both wanting to run courses, or Kalc living in both Kuartal Business and Kuartal AI Labs.

Reports to the CEO. Decides what gets built, where the CTO decides how it gets built and run, and the Chief AI Officer owns AI as a product and a policy — three different questions, three different owners.

Owns Kuartal AI Labs (Komp, Kuant and Kalc), how AI gets used everywhere else at Kuartal (the newsroom, Kuartal Books, Kuartal Media, support), our AI Use Policy, which AI providers we use, and measuring AI's energy use for the manifesto's footprint report.

Reports to the CEO. Early on, this role can be combined with the CTO's, splitting out once Kuartal AI Labs has its own team.

Runs our cloud servers, the home server and Proxmox setup, hosting for all eight Kuartal websites, backups, uptime and the office network. Reports to the CTO.

Owns security and compliance with Indonesia's Personal Data Protection Law (UU PDP) for Kuartal ID, which will hold everyone's identity, plus incident response, and can double as our data protection officer. Reports to the CTO, with a direct line to the General Counsel.

Owns every outside deal that more than one Kuartal line depends on: e-money card issuers, the licensed payment partner behind Kuallet, printers, Argapura, cooperatives, universities and event venues. One owner means one relationship per partner, not three. Reports to the COO.

Owns the 2027 grant, CSR and donation raise for the whole Group, one shared donor list, and any investment raise further down the line. The Head of Kuartal Impact still raises for Impact's own programmes, but through this role, so no funder gets asked twice by two different Kuartal teams. Reports to the CEO, working with the CFO.

Owns the Kuartal brand across all eight websites, our friendly website voice, launch campaigns and social media. Reports to the CEO.

Owns membership tiers, Kuartal Rewards, sign-ups and keeping members across every app, so no single line has to run its own sign-up funnel. Reports to the Chief Product Officer.

Owns one help centre and one support team for every Kuartal app and every Kuartal Store order. Reports to the COO.

Owns Kuartal's relationships with OJK, Bank Indonesia, Komdigi and the NTB provincial government, including licence applications as they come up. Reports to the General Counsel.

Owns institutional memberships, advertising and sponsorship sales, and business-to-business Kuartal Store orders like deal toys and team kits. Reports to the CEO.
